Flexible Cystoscopy (Female)
Overview
Flexible cystoscopy (female) is a procedure that uses a flexible telescope to look for and treat problems in your bladder.A flexible cystoscopy is a safe and effective way of examining the inside of a woman’s bladder. It is a commonly performed minimally-invasive procedure.Doctor inserts a flexible telescope, with a light and a digital camera, through your urethra and into your bladder. The camera sends images to a monitor allowing your consultant to see the inside of your bladder. Water may be pumped into your bladder so your doctor can see inside more clearly. You will not have any cuts or scars after your flexible cystoscopy. If your doctor finds a small polyp or bladder stone, they may remove it through the flexible cystoscope. During a flexible cystoscopy, your doctor may take a tissue sample for further examination, called a biopsy.
